Background:
A cement plant in Nigeria was struggling with severe wear on the vertical mill air ring liners, which were constantly exposed to high-temperature, high-velocity dust-laden airflow.
Challenge:
The original "8+6 overlay composite liners" had an average service life of only 2 months due to the extremely harsh conditions. Frequent shutdowns for replacement severely impacted production continuity and incurred ongoing labor and material costs.
Solution:
Jingcheng Special Ceramics provided their independently developed Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA) ceramic liners. This material combines the high hardness of alumina with the high toughness of zirconia, making it ideal for high-temperature and high-wear applications.
Result:
The trial installation was completed on August 27, 2024. As of the latest report, the liners have been in continuous normal operation for over 14 months and are still performing well. Compared to the original 2-month lifespan, wear resistance has improved by more than 7 times, dramatically reducing downtime and maintenance costs. The customer was highly satisfied and has placed orders for complete sets of liners.
