Industry: Coal Mining & Gangue Handling
Equipment: Komatsu PC450-8 Excavator
Application: Open-pit coal excavation, gangue digging, coal loading and transportation
Challenge
A large coal mine in Northwest China was operating under severe 24/7 working conditions.
The excavators were continuously handling raw coal, shale, and hard gangue with high abrasive content. Previously used standard bucket teeth suffered from
extremely fast wear, easy chipping and fracture, and had to be replaced every
10–12 days.
Frequent tooth replacement caused frequent machine downtime, increased labor and parts costs, and directly affected daily coal output and production stability. The customer urgently needed a set of highly wear-resistant, high-impact-resistant bucket teeth that could match Komatsu excavators perfectly to solve their pain points.
Solution
The customer chose our
heavy-duty forged Komatsu-compatible bucket teeth specially designed for coal mine and mining conditions.
Key advantages:
- High-strength alloy steel with precision heat treatment, providing excellent wear and impact resistance
- Strictly consistent with Komatsu OEM size, direct replacement without modification
- Optimized tooth tip structure for stronger penetration and self-sharpening effect
- Reinforced tooth root to protect adapter and reduce bucket abrasion
- Stable performance under long-term high-abrasion and high-impact working conditions
Results
After actual application on site, the effect was remarkable:
-
Service life greatly extended
Bucket teeth life reached
28–35 days, more than
2 times longer than ordinary teeth.
-
Downtime significantly reduced
The frequency of tooth replacement decreased by more than 50%, ensuring stable 24-hour continuous operation of the excavator.
-
Excavation efficiency improved
Optimized tooth shape reduced digging resistance. The hourly loading capacity increased by about
12–15%, improving overall production efficiency.
-
Obvious cost-saving effect
Lower tooth consumption, fewer maintenance times, and reduced wear on adapters. Each Komatsu PC450-8 excavator saved about
USD 9,000–11,000 per year.
-
Stable performance in harsh coal mine environment
No abnormal breakage, cracking, or rapid blunting during long-term use, fully adapting to coal and gangue working conditions.
